About Beezerfest

Beezerfest is an annual gathering of Ibizan Hound fanciers to socialize, support, and show off our wonderful breed. It's name was chosen because Ibizan Hounds are affectionately known as "beezers" and the event was to have a "festive" atmosphere.

Our Goals

  • Promote show and performance events
  • Promote camaraderie among Ibizan fanciers
  • Raise funds for health research and rescue
  • Present educational seminars
  • Offer quality prizes and ribbons to exhibitors

History

Beezerfest was created by Kristie Stocker, Wendy Anderson, and Amada Vari in 2005 with the very first Beezerfest being held in March 2006 in Louisville. The event is not affiliated with any specific breed club, canine, or pet organization. However, Beezerfest does work with other groups and organizations in support of the breed.

In considering where to host the event, Louisville was the preferred location. Centrally located, the 4-day, all-breed show cluster consistently draws large entries. The show site offers many amenities conducive to promoting a supported entry.

The Louisville cluster offers conformation and performance events - both are important to Ibizan owners. However, being directly involved in showing is not required. Fanciers from Spain and Norway have traveled to attend Beezerfest because it is one of the few events in the USA where a significant number of Ibizan Hounds can be observed together.

After the initial Fest in 2006, the Specialty Coordinator of the cluster sent the following note to the Beezerfest organizers: "The all-breed entries are WAY up over last year, and it's due in LARGE part to your specialty club."

We are very appreciative of the Louisville cluster. They have worked closely with us to provide hospitality and meeting rooms, common grooming areas for Ibizan owners and handlers, and promoted Beezerfest during the shows.

Since 2006, Beezerfest has lived up to it's goals. Several thousand dollars have been raised and donated to the Ibizan Hound Club of the United States for rescue and health efforts. Each year educational seminars have been held for exhibitors, judges, and the general public. Health testing has been promoted. Ibizan Hound entries have continued to grow. And fellowship and camaraderie between Ibizan Hound fanciers has been encouraged.

Sponsors

Beezerfest would not be possible if it wasn't for the generosity of individuals, businesses, and various organizations who sponsor and donate all the wonderful prizes. The event is run on a tight budget and every effort is made to ensure the best possible experience for all is realized.

Beezerfest is not affiliated with any AKC breed club.
